The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced, on Thursday, that Baghdad and Washington agreed to accelerate efforts to activate the Strategic Framework Agreement.
In a statement received by the Tigris, the ministry said, “The Senior Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nizar Al-Khair Allah, received today, Thursday, the US ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Toller, at the ministry’s headquarters, where the two sides reviewed the results of the third round of the strategic dialogue between Iraq and the United States.”
She added, “It was agreed to accelerate joint efforts to activate the strategic framework agreement between the two countries, and to hold meetings of specialized working groups in the fields covered by the agreement in order to deepen and expand areas of cooperation between the two countries.”
The ministry added, “The two sides discussed the formation of the Iraqi Military Technical Committee and its American counterpart in order to expedite the holding of their meeting to implement the outcomes of the third round of strategic dialogue regarding the transition to the new stage of security cooperation and the redeployment of combat forces outside Iraq.”
