Shafaq News / The President of Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani stressed, on Monday, the need for Iraqi political forces to reach a common vision for the country’s future.
This came during a series of separate meetings that Barzani showed with the head of the civil assembly for reform, Salim al-Jubouri, former Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi, President of the Iraqi Supreme Council Hammam Hammoudi, Secretary-General of the National Accord Party, Iyad Allawi, and the head of the Azm Alliance, Khamis al-Khanjar, on the third day of his visit to Baghdad.
A statement by the region’s presidency received by Shafaq News indicated that the meetings discussed the latest political and security developments in the country, the upcoming elections, Kurdistan Region’s relations with the Iraqi federal government, and dialogues to solve the problems of Erbil and Baghdad, the dangers of ISIS, and Iraq’s relations with the countries of the region and the world.
Barzani reaffirmed during the meetings on his own vision to solve Iraq’s problems that it is necessary for the Iraqi forces, political parties and components to reach a vision and a common understanding for the future of Iraq that guarantees stability, coexistence and acceptance by some for others, pointing out that for this goal everyone should benefit from past mistakes and experiences, back Baghdad is a strategic depth for Kurdistan to solve its problems.
The statement indicated that Barzani stressed that after 18 years of the collapse of the previous regime and the building of the new Iraq, the transitional phase must end and start with a new phase in the country in which reconstruction and services are provided to all Iraqis in all regions by taking advantage of its rich human and natural resources, and that Iraq regains its place and position. At the regional and international levels.
The statement pointed out that the Iraqi leaders were in agreement with the opinion of the regional president that they work with a common vision for a better future for Iraq and with the presence of political will and common understanding, obstacles to the political process can be removed, adding that they cited examples of this, such as passing the Iraqi general budget law, amending the federal court law, and dissolving the parliament.
The Iraqi forces and parties described Barzani’s visit to Baghdad as an opportunity to renew the network of relations between political forces and joint action in order to cross the country to a better stage that includes stability, reconstruction, progress, partnership and the participation of all in the political process and managing the country on the basis of citizenship and common interests, hoping that the visit will have fruitful results and continue Such visits and meetings are aimed at creating common positions and preparing the ground for a common understanding.
