The closing statement of the meeting that brought together the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, with the Kurdish political parties, considered the approval of the Iraqi Federal Budget Law a “positive step” in the context of the progress of relations between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi federal government.
The meeting expressed, according to the text of the statement, “the hope that the budget law will be applied and have positive repercussions on the lives and livelihood of citizens and the economic situation of Iraq and the Kurdistan region, and pave the way for solving problems between the two sides on the basis of the constitution and within the framework of the federal system.”
In it, the blessing and appreciation of the initiative of the Kurdistan Region Presidency and its gathering between the forces and political parties, in an atmosphere of frankness and openness, the problems and sources of concern were reviewed and reaffirmed the need and importance of uniting the ranks, cohesion, dialogue and understanding between the political parties in order to solve the problems.
In the meeting, it was emphasized that the current conditions of the Kurdistan region, achieving constitutional rights, protecting gains and moving towards a better future, calls for realism and a sense of responsibility for everyone, working together, sharing, cohesion and unity of ranks, and he reaffirmed with interest the reform process and work to improve the living conditions of citizens and the need to protect Freedoms, freedom of expression, and setting up a framework and mechanism for the continuation of these meetings.
Barzani thanked the political forces and parties for responding to his call and holding this meeting, and stressed that the only way to overcome problems and crises and protect rights, gains, and the constitutional status and the federation of the Ku = Kurdistan region is cohesion and unity of ranks, and that the Kurdistan Region Presidency will continue to work on this and it will remain the umbrella for all.
