Ahead of the budget session, the Kurdish delegation re-enters the discussion arenas

A representative source revealed {for the Euphrates News} that “a delegation from the Kurdistan region will arrive this evening, Saturday, to the capital, Baghdad, to discuss the terms of the budget before the meeting to pass the budget tomorrow, Sunday.”

 On Friday, the House of Representatives announced the postponement of its session for approving the budget until tomorrow, Sunday.

The Media Department stated that, given the continuing discussions on the draft budget law, and the need for final formulations of the articles of the budget bill, the Presidency of the Council decided that the voting session on the draft budget law would take place on Sunday, March 28, 2021, at three in the afternoon.

Samir Hawrami, spokesperson for the Vice President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, announced that the new formulation agreed upon in the draft fiscal budget for 2021 included two proposals for the federal government, and another for the Finance Committee and parliamentary blocs, pointing to the region’s readiness to implement one of these two proposals.

For his part, a member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Sherwan Mirza, suggested passing the federal budget law in the next session after the agreement between the Kurdish delegation and the Shiite forces and the Sunni forces to pass Article 11 of the Budget Law concerning the share of the Kurdistan region, according to the agreement.
