SULAIMANI — Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani on Wednesday (January 20) asserted that the KRG has always worked to have excellent with the federal government and that he wanted to solve disagreements between Erbil and Baghdad in accordance with the constitution.

During a meeting with foreign diplomats based in the Kurdistan Region, Barzani said that the KRG aims to secure a fair budget deal that is in the interest of the people of the Region and Iraq, including the public servants working for the KRG, according to a statement.

He said that a KRG delegation will return to Baghdad next week for additional talks about outstanding issues with Baghdad, stressing that the issue of salary should not be mixed in with political conflicts and must not be used as “a pressure card” against the Kurdistan Region.

“We have been building new and stronger partnerships with the private sector to ensure our diversification program keeps growing,” Barzani said in a tweet, adding that “these public-private partnerships will create more infrastructure projects, better services, and new jobs.”

He said that KRG’s plans to increase non-oil and gas revenue include “organizing and enforcing the existing tax laws.”

“The Kurdistan Region is an important factor in the stability of the region and calls for friendly relations with neighboring countries and the development of relations with the international community in general,” he said.
