Shafaq News / After midnight on Wednesday – Thursday, the Iraqi parliament (parliament) completed voting on electoral districts after passing the paragraph on the disputed Kirkuk governorate between Erbil and Baghdad.

This came in a session chaired by Muhammad Al-Halbousi, Speaker of the Council, and the presence of 168 deputies.

Parliament had recently voted on electoral districts in the rest of the provinces, and postponed the vote on the Kirkuk clause due to differences between the Kurdish, Turkmen and Arab political forces.

According to the new election law, the distribution of electoral districts is as follows: 17 in Baghdad, 8 in Nineveh, 6 in Basra, 5 in Dhi Qar and Sulaymaniyah, 4 in Babylon, Anbar, Arbil and Diyala, and 3 each in Kirkuk, Najaf, Salah al-Din, Dahuk, Diwaniyah, Karbala and Wasit And Maysan, and two seats in Muthanna.

The article on electoral districts was the most prominent controversial paragraph between the political blocs, and it took months to agree on it.

And relies on the new election law to organize early parliamentary elections on the sixth of next June.
