Shafaq News / A source in the Iraqi parliament stated, on Wednesday, that there is an agreement on the entirety of the election law in the parliament session held at this time.
The source told Shafaq News Agency that “Parliament is currently discussing the health insurance law for the purpose of voting on it,” pointing out that “the first paragraph concerning the electoral districts of Kirkuk Governorate has been postponed until the end of the meeting of political forces with the legal committee to reach a final agreement.”
The source, who asked not to be named, confirmed that “there is an agreement to vote on the basis of the electoral law permanently for today’s session.”
The source pointed out that “the Parliamentary Legal Committee is currently holding a meeting with the deputies of Kirkuk governorate in order to reach an agreement regarding the normalcy and division of electoral districts in the province.”
Parliament had passed the electoral districts for the country’s provinces, with the exception of Kirkuk, as disagreements still exist regarding them between Kurdish and Turkmen representatives.
