The Parliamentary Finance Committee has set a date for tomorrow morning, Tuesday, to hold a meeting to discuss the fiscal deficit financing law.
A statement from the Office of the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hassan Al-Kaabi, a copy of which was received by People (October 26, 2020), stated that “the First Deputy Speaker will chair a meeting of the Finance Committee for the purpose of discussing the law on financing the fiscal deficit, at 10:30 in the morning Tomorrow Tuesday. ”
On Monday, the Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed the agreement of the political blocs to pass the fiscal deficit law, provided that its form is modified.
Committee member Jamal Cougar told the official news agency, followed by “People,” (October 26, 2020) that “the fiscal deficit financing law has been read in a first reading and there is an agreement to pass the law, but after making amendments to the formula sent by the government.”
And that “the committee decided to hold several sessions and hosting with the Ministry of Finance, as well as with the banks that we will resort to borrowing from.”
In turn, a member of Parliament, Yahya Al-Ithawi, confirmed that “Parliament has reservations about the fiscal deficit law, as the required amount is 41 trillion dinars, which is a very large amount.”
He added that “the deficit through which salaries can be paid does not exceed 3 trillion per month, ie between 9 and 10 trillion,” suggesting that “this amount is the one that the House of Representatives will vote on
