SULAIMANI — The Council of Representatives on Saturday (October 24) voted on an electoral reform proposal to divide up each governorate into multiple electoral districts.
During a session attended by 176 lawmakers, the parliament approved plans for sixteen of the country’s governorates, with votes on Kirkuk and Nineveh postponed until Monday.
At the beginning of the session, Speaker Muhammad al-Halbusi directed the heads of the political blocs and the Legal Committee to meet and hammer out any remaining differences.
