The Central Bank explains to {Al Furat News} its relationship with employee salaries

{Baghdad: Al Furat News} The Central Bank of Iraq issued, on Wednesday, a clarification through {Al Furat News} about its relationship with the salaries of state employees.

Bank spokesman Acer Jassim told {Al Furat News} that “there is no relationship between the central bank and the employees’ salaries, and that this file (salaries) is a purely governmental affair and is exclusively in its hands.”

He pointed out that “the currency auction in the bank has nothing to do with salaries and that the financial relationship between the government and the bank is to provide it in dinars exclusively.”

The bank had confirmed earlier that there is no mechanism for the bank related to salaries and that the bank’s policy is far from this matter.

(Baghdad: Al Furat News) The economic advisor to the prime minister, Mazhar Muhammad Salih, said on Wednesday, “I do not worry about the salaries of employees for the month of October.”

Saleh told Al-Furat News that “the issue of salary disbursement for the current month of October is not a concern, and that the delay will not be as it happened last month,” noting that “there is flexibility on the part of the concerned authorities to disburse salaries without delay.”

And that “the rights are guaranteed and there is a directive from the House of Representatives and the government to disburse salaries by approving the internal borrowing law submitted to the House of Representatives.”

The head of the Financial Supervision Bureau (former) Salah Nour confirmed to {Al-Furat News}, saying, “Salaries will be delayed as the previous month and for the same reasons and arguments between Parliament and the Ministry of Finance did not specify a time, but the personal opinion before the end of the month.”

A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, Jamal Cougar, revealed the day before Monday, the date for the salaries to be delivered for the month of October.

“The salaries will not be delayed, as happened last month, and our expectations are that they will be distributed in the last two days of the month,” Cougar told Al-Furat News, stressing that “the Iraqi street and the situation cannot bear a repetition of the same scenario that occurred last September in the delay in paying the salary.” 

Cougar added, “The House of Representatives will in any case vote on the internal borrowing law and legislate it, but it is not in this form that was sent by the government,” indicating that ”

He pointed out that “the numbers mentioned in the text are fictitious, as they amount to 40 trillion dinars, and this is greatly exaggerated.”

It is noteworthy that the parliamentary finance reporter, Ahmed Al-Saffar, said earlier, “The House of Representatives is determined to vote on the internal borrowing law, which is included in the reform paper, which will secure the salaries of employees until the end of the year.”

“The meeting dealt with ways to develop banking relations and increase the volume of investment transactions between the two countries, as well as the importance of cooperation in the field of” combating money laundering and terrorist financing “and overcoming the obstacles that hinder the process of opening branches for foreign banks operating in Iraq, a statement said.
The statement added, “In the framework of his visit to the United Kingdom, the governor also met with the two international auditing companies Ernst & Young and PWC, where he discussed with them enhancing the volume of work with the Central Bank of Iraq because of these companies’ experience and reliability, stressing his keenness to maintain the relationship with them during the coming period.

Al-Fath: Al-Kazemi may discuss normalization with Israel in closed rooms

Shafaq News / A   leader in the Al-Fateh coalition led by Hadi Al-Amiri stated, on Wednesday, that the issue of normalization, the decision to normalize normalization with Israel is the responsibility of the Iraqi parliament and not one of the tasks of the Al-Kazemi government.

While he did not rule out that Al-Kazemi and his accompanying delegation had discussed the issue of normalization with Israel in the British capital, London, he indicated that this issue would face parliamentary rejection if the Iraqi government decided to proceed with normalization.

Leader in the Al-Fateh Alliance, Moein Al-Kazemi, told Shafaq News, “The issue of normalizing relations between Iraq and Israel is a decision that is not linked to Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi and the Iraqi government in general, but rather is linked to whoever represents the Iraqi people in the House of Representatives, and this issue is within the authority of the Council and it is You will face a huge rejection if the Al-Kazemi government wants to. ”

The leader of the Al-Fateh Alliance stressed, “the necessity of hosting the delegation of Mustafa Al-Kazemi’s government in the Iraqi parliament, upon his return, to know the truth of the discussions that he might hold in London regarding normalization between Iraq and Israel.”

Shafaq News / The Norwegian ambassador to Iraq, during her meeting with the Kurdish leader, Masoud Barzani, in Erbil, on Wednesday, expressed her country’s desire to develop relations between her country and the Kurdistan Region, to increase coordination between them.

A statement by Barzani’s headquarters received by Shafaq News said that Barzani had received, in the resort of Salah al-Din, Arbil, the Ambassador of Norway to Iraq, Yers, and they exchanged views on the political situation and the latest developments in Iraq.

 The Norwegian ambassador expressed her sympathy and concern for the attack on the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in Baghdad, as well as expressing gratitude for the sacrifices of the Kurdish Peshmerga forces in the war against ISIS terrorists. She blessed the agreement to normalize the situation in Sinjar between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the federal government and considered it a positive step.

The statement added that the Norwegian ambassador announced that her country is part of the international coalition against ISIS and had a role in training and qualifying the Peshmerga forces, and confirmed her country’s desire to develop coordination and relations between her country and the Kurdistan Region.

The statement indicated that Barzani, for his part, expressed his thanks for the role of the State of Norway in the international coalition for the war against ISIS and welcomed the development of relations between the two sides, indicating that with regard to relations between Erbil and Baghdad, Barzani made clear that relations have taken a positive path and there is an opportunity to solve problems.

The Association of Banks holds a workshop on the role of the banking sector in activating tourism investment programs

The Iraqi Private Banks Association, in cooperation with the Tourism Authority in the Kurdistan Region, held a workshop entitled (The role of the banking sector in activating tourism investment programs). The Central Bank of Iraq, Walid Idi, and the representative of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers – head of the technical team for the financing project of central bank loans, Shamil Abdul-Bari, and a number of authorized directors of Iraqi private banks, investors and company owners in the tourism sector.

 The head of the Association of Private Banks, Wadih Al-Handal, spoke about the importance of encouraging tourism investment, which helps push the wheel of the Iraqi economy to get rid of the reality of fragility.

 The head of the Iraqi Private Banking Association affirmed his full support for the development of the tourism sector in Iraq, pointing to the importance of investing in domestic tourism and marketing the Iraqi provinces.

He also stressed that this sector absorbs the largest number of jobs and reduces unemployment.

Mawlawi Jabbar gave his opening speech in which he talked about the plans to develop the tourism reality in Kurdistan and the opportunity for Iraq to attract tourists, foreigners and Arabs, because Kurdistan possesses the picturesque nature and security stability.

Parliamentary law sets a session next week to discuss the borrowing law

Today, Wednesday, the Parliamentary Legal Committee set the date for the next parliament session.

A member of the committee, Hassan Fadam, said, according to the official media, that “the parliament that will be held next week will discuss the borrowing law and the electoral districts and amending the Federal Court law.”

Fadam added, “The date for hosting the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance has not yet been determined in Parliament.”

The Parliamentary Finance Committee confirmed earlier that the reform paper will not affect the salaries of retirees and employees, but employees’ allocations can be reduced, indicating that the reform paper will solve the economic problems, but in the long run.

{Baghdad: Al Furat News} The Ministry of Finance issued a statement today, Wednesday, regarding the economic reform and the reform paper.

According to a statement, the Euphrates News Agency received a copy of it, “within the framework of the Ministry of Finance’s continuous endeavor and based on its responsibility to reform the current economic and financial reality, the ministry, through the visions that the financial reform paper carries, is moving towards a diversified, multi-source economy.”

She indicated, “The reform and activation of the private sector is done by creating a stable investment environment and reviewing some self-financed public companies, in addition to activating the collection of the electricity sector.”

The Finance stated that “the reform paper also seeks to change the course of the national economy from the role of state control to the role of regulation and law enforcement, paying attention to vulnerable groups and social welfare, and working on making radical improvements to the state’s management of the public financial system to reduce the continuous waste of resources.”

“The restructuring of the banking sector is an urgent necessity, as it is the backbone of any economic expansion through developing deposits and loans with a mechanism different from the current one,” the statement continued.

The Finance pointed out, “The current decline in productivity and income due to the dominance of the non-productive public sector calls for the development of real and scientific treatments, and this is what the financial reform paper seeks to do.”
