Al-Kazemi leaves Germany for a third European stop

Shafaq News / On Tuesday, the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi,   left Germany for Britain on his third leg of his European tour that he started in Paris.

This came according to news broadcast on state television, without further details.

Al-Kazemi concluded, on Monday, a 24-hour official visit to France and went to Germany on his second leg of his European tour .

Al-Kazemi left on Sunday evening (October 18, 2010), to Paris at the start of the first European tour by the Prime Minister of Iraq since he took office in May.

Central Bank Governor Mustafa Ghaleb discussed, on Tuesday, with a group of large German banks, investment opportunities and work with Iraqi banks.  


The Central Bank said in a statement, “People” received a copy of it, (October 20, 2020), that “Today, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, Mustafa Ghaleb, held a series of meetings with a group of large German banks, and the meetings discussed investment opportunities and work with Iraqi banks. Which met a high response from German banks, as they confirmed their desire to complete the talks in Baghdad soon. ”  

 The statement indicated that “the governor, accompanied by Minister of Finance Ali Allawi and Chairman of the National Investment Commission, Suha Al-Najjar, participated in the meetings held with the German Ministry of Development and Economy and the Ministry of Finance, as part of the current visit to Germany, where ways to strengthen economic relations between the municipality and its future prospects were discussed.” .

The House of Representatives intends to reduce the amounts of internal borrowing

The House of Representatives announced its intention to reduce the amount of internal borrowing, within the law submitted by the government.

A member of the council’s finance committee, Jamal Cougar, said, “The local borrowing or deficit financing law will be presented to the vote, but not with the numbers sent by the government, as the committee will work to change them in line with the need.”

He added that “the government requested loans for the four months amounting to 57 trillion, while it disbursed, according to its report, from the beginning of the year to mid-August, up to 51 trillion.”

Cougar expected that “Parliament will resume its work next week due to the existence of important laws that need to be voted.”

Shafaq News / The Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi confirmed, on Tuesday, his aspiration to conclude understandings and strengthen cooperation with Germany, which he is visiting as part of a European tour.

Al-Kazemi said in a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, “We came to Berlin to confirm Iraq’s commitment to its desire to establish close relations, and we also look forward to strengthening security and military cooperation efforts with Germany.”

He stressed, “We are going through difficult times because of Corona, but we have embarked on an ambitious program to restructure and rebuild the Iraqi economy, and we are approaching the announcement of the second phase of the road map for the development of electricity in Iraq with the participation of German companies.”

“We look forward to benefiting from financial support to organize free and fair elections, for a true partnership with Germany,” he added.

For her part, Merkel stressed that her country supports Iraq to confront the Corona pandemic, and welcomes the Iraqi government’s efforts to achieve economic reform
