A change in the exchange rate and the value of salaries of groups … Fears that the white paper will turn into a “ red ”

Baghdad Today – Follow-up

The economic expert, Abdul Rahman Al-Mashhadani, described, on Thursday (October 15, 2020), the white paper for financial reform that the government submitted to Parliament as “red”, while stressing that it needs eight years to implement it.

Al-Mashhadani said in a televised interview with (Baghdad Today), that “the paper presented by the government to Parliament is a red card, not a white one, and it needs great sacrifices from the Iraqi people from the middle and poor classes, because the reform paper will reduce the salary ceiling and raise the exchange rate, and the poverty rate will rise in Iraq”.

He added, “The paper has many positive aspects, but it is not suitable for the crisis that Iraq is witnessing now, which will continue until the end of next year with the drop in the price of oil,” noting that “it is a master’s thesis, not a government reform program, and it takes 8 years to implement it.”

He pointed out that “if parliament approves this white paper, it is expected that the new parliament, after the elections, will cancel the paper.”

And the agency (Baghdad Today), Tuesday (10/13/2020), published the terms of the “white paper” submitted by the government to the House of Representatives.

The introduction to the “ white paper ”, submitted by the government of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi to Parliament, and which (Baghdad today) has obtained its full version: “This white paper includes the final report of the emergency cell for financial reform, with the aim of managing the financial situation. In light of the current financial crisis, and developing the necessary solutions to achieve financial reform and improve the management of financial institutions, the cell has undertaken the development of the economic reform program stipulated in the Domestic and Foreign Borrowing Law No. (5) of 2020, with the aim of restructuring the Iraqi economy to face the next challenges.

Shafaq News / Today, Thursday, the Iraqi politician, close to the US administration, Mithal Al-Alusi, revealed an Iraqi-Israeli-American contact to discuss “normalization” between Baghdad and Tel Aviv.

Al-Aousi said, to Shafaq News Agency, that “senior officials in the Green Zone in central Baghdad had, during the past few days, joint collective contacts with American and Israeli officials, during which they discussed ways that serve and develop mankind from the mazes of terrorism, in addition to the issue of normalization between Baghdad and Tall Abib. ”

According to Al-Alusi, “there is not a single Iraqi politician who lived in the West and did not have a relationship with the Israelis,” noting that “the relationship between Iraqi Israelis is intimate and it is a great relationship.”

Al-Alusi added, “Iraq is basically ready for the normalization of relations with Tel Aviv, and Iraq is in dire need of this normalization,” according to him.

Al-Alusi, the founder and former president of the Iraqi Nation Party, had previously called on the Iraqi government to normalize relations with Israel, along the lines of the UAE.

On September 21, the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Fuad Hussein, revealed Iraq’s position on concluding a “peace with Israel” treaty, similar to the one recently concluded in Washington .

Hussein said, “The course of affairs is being followed up seriously,” stressing that “Iraq has up to now committed to the decisions of the Arab summits, one of which was held in Baghdad in 2012 .

The Iraqi foreign minister described the step as “sensitive”, stressing that “decisions are taken within the social framework .”

“Ahmed Mulla Talal,” a spokesman for the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, said in a press conference, on August 26, that Iraqi laws prevent normalization with Israel, commenting on the recent normalization of relations between the UAE and Israel, saying, “This is an internal matter for those countries .”

The Israeli government approved an agreement to normalize relations with the UAE, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described as “historic”, and noted that similar treaties will be signed with other Arab countries “soon.”
