Shafaq News / A group of ambassadors and chargé d’affaires revealed, on Wednesday, the details of their meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, announcing strong support for the Al-Kazemi government to confront the attacks on diplomatic missions and the Green Zone.

A statement was mentioned by the ambassadors and chargé d’affaires of “Australia, Canada, Croatia, Egypt, the European Union, Finland, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Jordan, the Kingdom of Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, the Republic of Korea, Serbia.” Spain, Sweden, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and Yemen, this afternoon with Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, “during the meeting, they affirmed our support for Iraq and its people, our respect for Iraqi sovereignty and our desire to see a stable and secure Iraq.”

They added, “We have welcomed the measures taken by Prime Minister Al-Kazemi and his government to address these concerns, including investigations, security operations and strengthening airport security. The ambassadors expressed their “desires of their countries to help Iraq face these security challenges.”

He added that the two sides held discussions that focused on issues related to the security and political situation, and Iraqi-American relations in light of the circumstances the country is going through.

Earlier, Hussein said in a press conference held in the Belgian capital, Brussels, that Iraq faces great challenges, due to the drop in oil prices and the emergence of the Corona virus crisis in Iraq and the world, which is almost an economic crisis in the country.

He added: I am here on an official visit to Europe and I will head to Paris today to inform European friends about what is happening in Iraq and the region, and Iraq seeks to expand relations with European countries.

He added that he held several meetings in the German capital Berlin, after the visit yesterday, and we held meetings today in the Belgian capital Brussels to discuss Iraqi and European relations to consolidate them.

Hussein indicated that Iraq faces several challenges, some of which are related to health and the outbreak of the Coronavirus, which threatens many societies around the world, and we are trying to cooperate with other countries to confront the pandemic.

The Iraqi Foreign Minister stressed that ISIS today poses a threat to the Iraqi people and the security forces, and there is activity in some areas, and attempts to regroup their ranks.

Hussein explained that the new Iraqi government, its main tasks are summarized in planning for holding early elections next year, to continue the democratic process in the rotation of power in Iraq.

In a related context, Hussein continued, Iraq is trying to make it clear to neighboring countries that it wants to establish balanced relations with all, on the condition that they respect the sovereignty of our country and not interfere in internal affairs, and build our relations on the basis of the mutual interests of both parties.

And that the Iraqi government has called on European companies to invest in the country in various fields related to energy, oil, gas and electricity.
