Baghdad today – Baghdad

The former minister, Baqir Jabr al-Zubaidi, described the second term of former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki, which began after the 2010 parliamentary elections and until September 2014, as a “disaster of disasters,” indicating that the latter shared Iraq with the former Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani by an agreement signed in 2010.

Al-Zubaidi said, in a televised interview, broadcast by the semi-official “Al-Iraqiya” channel, and followed by (Baghdad Today), “Al-Maliki has influence on the street and the ministers, in words and not on the ground.”

He continued: “The decision of his second term was international – regional, and some Shiite forces supported it, and others rejected it, the Sadrist movement and the Islamic Supreme Council.”

And he added, “The second term of Maliki was (the disaster disaster), in Iraq, and the ministers were watching each other’s thefts, this is stealing and the other is stealing.

He went on to say, “Whoever signed and supported the second term of the owners and the oil licensing rounds will be held accountable before God and (throw him into the fire),” as he put it.

The former Finance Minister pointed out that “the oil licensing rounds that took place under Al-Maliki and then Oil Minister Hussain Al-Shahristani destroyed Iraq, when Iraq was selling 22 billion dollars of oil, 12 billion of which were to foreign oil companies.”

He also pointed out that “the travel of the employees of the oil companies was at the expense of Iraq … the Chinese, for example, were booked through the UAE and Qatari airlines with a flight costing $ 2,700, while on board the Iraqi Airways it cost $ 800 and the reason for their going to non-Iraqi companies is quotas and corruption rates for officials.”

He added, “Former Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki signed an agreement with Masoud Barzani. In 2010, he divided Iraq between two parties, the Islamic Dawa Party and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, and it was also, I believe, a guarantee for Maliki to obtain a second term.”
