Tueller said in a press statement, followed by (Baghdad Today), that “the United States supports the recent statements of the religious authority, Ali al-Sistani, regarding holding early elections as scheduled, and holding the killers of activists and protesters accountable in Iraq.”
He added, “The attacks on the US embassy in Baghdad and the coalition forces aim to undermine the sovereignty of Iraq,” noting that “the United States is discussing with the Iraqi government to ensure that the perpetrators of the attacks against the embassy and the international coalition are deterred.”
And that “his country does not seek a permanent American presence in Iraq,” referring to “the presence of political and sectarian parties working to undermine the private economic sector.”
The US ambassador in Baghdad pointed out that “Iran is still interfering in Iraq and there are foreign agendas to weaken Iraq.”
Tueller said that “ISIS still threatens many areas of Iraq,” noting that “the United States supports intelligence on the Iraqi government.”

Sayyed Sistani received (long live) before noon today , Ms. Genin Hines- Blaschart Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, His Eminence noted during the meeting to his positions in a number of important issues , namely :
First: The parliamentary elections scheduled for next year is of great importance, and must provide them with the necessary conditions that give the results of a high degree of credibility, to be encouraged citizens to participate extensively. For this purpose, it must be conducted in accordance with a fair and equitable law far from the private interests of some political blocs and parties. It is also imperative that integrity and transparency are taken into account in the various stages of its conduct, and the supervision and control over them in a serious manner in coordination with the relevant department in the United Nations mission .
The early elections are not an end in itself, but it is the right of peaceful path out of the current impasse suffered by the country as a result of the accumulation of political crises, economic, security , and health and Khaddmaa and so on . It must be given the opportunity for citizens to renew their consideration of the political choices and be elected freely and away from any pressure from here or there , their representatives in the House of Representatives next, to be eligible to work towards solving problems and crises .

Second: The current government is invited to continue and to move firmly and strongly in the steps taken towards the application of social justice, and control of the border crossing points, and improving the security forces performance so characterized by a high degree of discipline and professionalism, and to impose the prestige of the state and the withdrawal of unlicensed weapons in it, and not allow the division of areas of the country to the provinces controlled by certain groups by force of arms under far different from the application of the laws in force addresses .
The government is also invited to take serious and extraordinary steps to combat corruption and open large files in this regard according to legal procedures, away from any selective, to obtain all corrupt fair punished and the rights of the people recover from it , whatever its location and whatever their backers .
