Baghdad / … Culture Minister Hassan Nazim confirmed, on Thursday, that the National Day was separated from the law on official holidays, while indicating that it will soon be sent to Parliament for approval.
The Minister of Culture said during a press conference, that “an official proposal has been submitted that 3/10 be the date for the National Day in the Republic of Iraq,” indicating that “the proposed date was unanimously agreed upon by Iraqis of all sects and components.”
He added, “The National Day was separated from the law on official holidays because of its national importance in the history of the Iraqi state,” noting that “the law will be sent to the parliament soon for approval as an official law.”
He noted that “this important date is the entry of Iraq into the League of the United Nations as an independent state from the British Mandate,” noting that “the national holiday includes all components.”
