Al-Fateh: The date for early elections is pre-agreed with most political forces

The deputy of the Al-Fateh Hamid Al-Mousawi coalition revealed, on Sunday, the existence of an agreement between the political forces to determine the date of the early elections, indicating that the demand for the early elections was not a jurisprudence from Al-Kazemi, but came after a political agreement
. “Al-Kazimi’s decision to determine the early elections came after a request and consultations with the political forces,
adding that the date of the elections came after the agreement with most of the political forces, especially Shiites, and that the demand for early elections was not a diligence from Al-Kazemi, but came after a political agreement.”
It is clear that “the alliance of the conquest with the date of the elections set by Al-Kazemi, and that the period is very sufficient in case the parliament is activated to complete the election law, and the file of the multiple constituencies and the agreement of most of the blocs has folded the one-circuit issue.”

The Commission is pledging to hold early elections that meet 4 conditions

Shafaq News / The Independent High Electoral Commission announced, on Saturday, its readiness to hold early elections on June 6, 2021, if 4 conditions are met.

The commission said in a statement received by Shafaq News, that it would be ready to hold the elections on the date set by Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi if four conditions were met.

The Commission provided the conditions as follows:

First: The parliament should implement the election law as soon as possible and publish it in the official gazette, as it represents the legal framework for the election process.

Second: The Parliament should legislate an alternative text for Article 3 of Ordinance No. 30 for the year 2005 to complete the quorum of the Federal Supreme Court, which is the only body legally empowered to endorse the election results.

Third: The government should prepare the electoral budget and provide the requirements that the commission previously requested from the relevant ministries, and whose presence helps the commission to hold the elections on time.

In this regard, the Commission requests the Prime Minister to allocate a special session to the Council of Ministers to discuss solving problems that hinder the work of the Commission related to the aforementioned ministries and to issue the necessary decisions to solve them.

Fourth: The Commission calls on the United Nations and other relevant international organizations to provide electoral assistance, and provide the oversight necessary to achieve free, transparent and fair elections that represent the true will of the Iraqi people.

The Commission noted “its full commitment, after implementing the above, to work to fulfill its constitutional mission with sincerity and dedication. We pledge to the people to place their votes in the rank of legal and moral trust, to implement an electoral process with the standards of transparency known in democratic systems.”

The Al-Rasheed Bank administration announced today, Saturday, the completion of raising the salaries of all departments of the endemic country their salaries with the bank.

“In implementation of the directives of the Minister of Finance and the Central Bank of Iraq, the salaries of state employees have been completed through electronic payment tools, including the ministries of health, education, and agriculture,” said a statement to the bank.

And informing the bank that “the general manager has directed the resumption of the official working hours of all branches of the bank involved in the settlement of salaries in addition to the relevant departments of public administration.”

Faeq Sheikh Ali announces his intention to establish a major political alliance in preparation for the next stage

, the head of the People’s Party, Deputy Fayek Sheikh Ali, revealed today, Saturday, 01 August 2020, his intention to form a major political alliance, to run in the early elections that were announced by the government.

Sheikh Ali wrote in a tweet to him: “Heroic revolutionaries: Whoever tells you that I will abandon you, tell him: You are a tucked liar.”

“For months, I called on you to establish your own political entity, and I wrote to you how you formed it in a series of tweets … and I will continue to invite you.”

“When you find yourselves powerless, I will, for my part, start forming a new grand coalition, in which you will be its leaders.”

Ahmed Mulla Talal, the spokesperson for the Prime Minister, said that the government had kept its promise and set the date for early elections.

“In response to the basic demand of people in holding early elections, in fulfillment of the blood of the martyrs of Iraq, and in commitment to the government curriculum, the government fulfilled the promise and set the date for early elections,” Mulla Talal said in a tweet.

“And it will work with great care and responsibility to create an appropriate electoral climate for free and fair elections, which gives everyone equal opportunities in honest competition.”

The Prime Minister, Mustafa Al-Kazemi, had set the date of early elections next Friday, July 31, 2020, for Iraq, noting that June 6 of next year is the date for its holding.

Al-Kazimi said in a televised speech to the Iraqi people, saying: “We are preparing for fair and fair elections that produce a parliament that represents the people’s will and aspirations, and that is why we have set June 6 next year as the date for early elections.”

He added: “We pledge to protect all competing forces in the elections,” pointing out that “the will of the Iraqi people will change the face of Iraq and remove from it the effects of years of wars and conflicts.”

Harb: Setting the date for the elections corresponds to the constitution and the law

Legal expert, Tariq Harb, confirmed on Friday that setting the date for early elections by the prime minister is in accordance with the constitution and the law.

Harb said in a press interview, “The prime minister’s step in determining the sixth of June next year as a date for holding early elections took into account the realistic requirements, through a sufficient period that allows Parliament to issue a new election law or amend or complete the existing law.”

He added, “The new date will be left to the Electoral Commission for a period of no less than 10 months, to complete the logistical requirements, in addition to that it will leave the political parties sufficient time to take what is necessary regarding their masses,” stressing that “the Prime Minister’s decision regarding setting the election date corresponds to Article 78 of the Constitution Which considered him responsible for the general policy of the state. ”

He pointed out, “The state is a term that includes the government, the region, parliament, presidencies, governorates, and everything that exists in the state. It is the responsibility of the prime minister for the country specified in Article 78 of the constitution that requires him to specify the date of the elections.”

He pointed out that “the Prime Minister’s decision that set the date for holding the elections also came in accordance with the current election law No. 45 of 2013 for Parliament, as well as the new election law that exists with Parliament.”

Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi announced, earlier today, Friday, that the sixth of June next year will be fixed as the date for early elections.
