The Kurdistan Region opens its doors to Japanese investment

Shafak News / The President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, received on Thursday, July 23, 2020, Nakayama Yoshiko, the new official of the Japanese Consulate Office in the Kurdistan Region and a accompanying delegation.

At the meeting, Barzani expressed his full support and support for Yoshiko in her new tasks, and His Excellency expressed the desire of the Kurdistan Region to develop its relations with Japan in all fields, and the Kurdistan Region’s readiness to receive Japanese investors and capitalists.

He also thanked the Japanese government for the assistance provided by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in the Kurdistan Region, which has provided its services in the region for a long time, and for the humanitarian assistance provided by Japan to the displaced and refugees, and the Iraqi government lending it and securing the Kurdistan Region’s share of these loans.

For its part, Yoshiko stressed that she will make every effort to further consolidate her country’s relations with the Kurdistan Region and encourage the Japanese private sector to work in the region and bring non-governmental organizations to her country to the Kurdistan Region, also stressed that Japan supports the stability of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.

During the meeting, they also discussed the general situation in the region, the importance of the Kurdistan Region’s role in stabilizing Iraq, the Corona epidemic and its repercussions, confronting terrorism and some other issues.
