Shafak News / On Saturday, a security source reported material damage due to projectiles falling on residential areas during a US training operation in the Green Zone in central Baghdad.
The source said to Shafaq News that projectiles fell on the Rahmaniya Al-Ja’ifar area and behind Al-Karamah Hospital in central Baghdad during a military training operation carried out by the American embassy inside the Green Zone.
The source added that the projectiles damaged 4 wheels, while no human injuries were reported.
Security sources had informed Shafaq News earlier Saturday that American forces had tested the Patriot air defense system in the green zone in the center of the capital, Baghdad, while the security company in charge of protecting the US embassy compound had carried out a training operation that included firing bullets and detonating loud sound bombs amid The siren sounds.
The sources also reported that a US airliner had bombed the Green Zone by air to test the effectiveness of the Patriot system.
The United States has deployed the Patriot system in several locations in Iraq to repel repeated missile attacks targeting its soldiers and diplomats by factions loyal to Iran.
The attacks specifically target the US embassy in central Baghdad and military bases that include US soldiers and diplomats across the country.
