Parliamentary Finance: The government does not have the right to borrow abroad without the approval of Parliament

Baghdad / Al-Ikhbaria:

A member of the Parliamentary Finance Committee Hanin Qaddo said on Sunday that the government does not have the legal framework to borrow without going to parliament.

Qaddo said in a televised statement, followed by “Al-Akhbaria”, that “Parliament rejects external borrowing from abroad and prefers internal borrowing to bridge the deficit of the crisis in the country.”

He added that “in the event of an external borrowing, it must pass through the House of Representatives, and that external borrowing should be with the knowledge of the Parliamentary Finance Committee and Parliament.”
