On Sunday, Prime Minister-designate Adnan Al-Zorfi confirmed the waiting for the special session to be decided to vote on the government curriculum and the cabinet.

 

Al-Zarfi said in a television interview with Al-Iraqiya satellite channel, “My mandate is constitutional and comes with parliamentary and political confidence.”

He added, “We have made contacts to obtain international support for Iraq to confront Corona.”

Al-Zorfi continued: “We are awaiting the determination of the extraordinary session to vote on the government curriculum and the cabinet.”

He stated that “the activity of non-productive enterprises must be curtailed,” adding: “We will launch our relations to develop the economy.”

He continued, “We support the real demands of the demonstrators, and we do not have tents in the squares, and we will not take any step that would cause a disorder in the public order.”

However, I do not think that there is any objection from the Iranian side to my assignment to the Prime Minister.

The Iraqi Foreign Ministry welcomed on Sunday (5 April 2020) the negotiations proposed by the United States on the Iraqi side.

Foreign Minister Muhammad Ali al-Hakim said in a tweet on his Twitter site that he “received the Iraqi Foreign Ministry a letter from the American State proposing negotiations based on the concepts presented in the strategic framework and a comprehensive review on the future of relations in the economic, cultural, trade and security exchanges bilateral and regionally.”

Al-Hakim added in his tweet that “we welcome this initiative and we will set an appropriate date.”
