The leader of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Imad Bajlan, revealed, on Tuesday, that the Kurdish forces asked Prime Minister-designate Adnan Al-Zarfi to wait a visit to the Kurdistan region of Iraq to obtain Shiite support, indicating that his party does not want to be part of the Shiite conflict – Shiite.
Baglan said in a press statement, “It is the most important thing we have is to maintain consensus and not go to any decision that threatens social peace, and we do not want to be part of the internal conflicts in the Shiite political house, but we want to unify the decision and the position of this house, because this is in the interest of everyone.” .
He added that “the position of Prime Minister is from the share of the Shiite component according to the established political practice in Iraq,” stressing “respect for the decisions of the political forces representing this component, which reject Prime Minister-designate Adnan Al-Zorfi.”
He continued, “The Kurdish forces asked Al-Zarfi to wait for a visit to the Kurdistan region, and that the visit be after he received the Shiite support,” stressing that “the party has no objection to Al-Zarfi, but he does not want to be part of the Shiite-Shiite conflict.”
Baglan pointed out that “it is imperative for the Prime Minister-designate Adnan Al-Zarfi to persuade the majority of the Shiite political blocs to support him, and then go to open dialogues and negotiations with the Sunni and Kurdish political parties.”
The leader of the Barzani Party stressed that “the Kurdish political forces refuse to vote for the Zorfi government except with the support of the Shi’a political majority,” noting that “there are historical relations and a strategic alliance between the Kurds and the Shiites.”
