Al-Surji told the {event} program broadcast on Al-Furat satellite channel tonight, that “the caretaker Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi’s tour in the Kurdistan Region included a visit by officials in Erbil and Sulaymaniyah to discuss the exit of US forces from Iraqi territory.”
Al-Surji said, “All Kurdish forces and the region’s government do not agree to the Americans leaving Iraq in this circumstance and situation.”
He added that “the Islamic Republic of Iran was a permanent incubator for Kurdistan and has credit for the region, and we are proud of our Iraq; but our circumstance does not allow the Americans to leave now.”
Al-Surji indicated that “when there is a strong and comprehensive government for all the components and when the quota and sectarianism ends, we will demand the exit of the Americans from Iraq,” adding, “There is no Iraqi sovereignty because of the violations of several countries.”
He continued, “We formed the Iraqi government in 2003, and we participated in writing the constitution, and we gathered political rival factions. The Americans are not the first and main reason for the troubles of Iraq but rather the politicians.”
The member of the National Union pointed out that “the Kurdish parties did not discuss the survival of Abdul-Mahdi in the post; but if there is an Iraqi consensus on his survival, we will support him.”
On what the Kurdish delegation holds during its recent visit to Baghdad, Al-Surji said, “The regional government agreed to hand over 250,000 barrels to the Somo Oil Company, and the delegation’s visit will be to agree on a delivery mechanism.”
Al-Surji concluded his dialogue by saying, “We have no problem with the provisions of the new election law except for the electoral districts in the governorates and not in the districts.”
