Barzani’s party responds to efforts to remove US forces from Iraq: Kirkuk will fall within hours

Baghdad / Obelisk: Member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Repin Salam, revealed on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, the position of his party regarding the continued presence of American forces in the country in light of the current situation in Iraq, in the wake of a tweet by the leader of the Sadrist movement Muqtada al-Sadr called To unite the ranks to get those forces out.

Salam said, “ISIS still poses a threat to the security situation, especially in the disputed areas. Had it not been for the presence of the American forces at the K1 base in Kirkuk, the city would have fallen within hours.”

He added, “If there is a vote to remove the American forces, it must include the foreign forces present in Iraq, and we reject the policy of the axes and plunge Iraq into a war that we have no war in. We respect our relationship with Iran and America, and neither do we prefer one over the other.”

And he continued, “His party sees the necessity of the continued presence of the American forces due to the urgent need of Iraq.”

And the leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called on Monday to unify the ranks to get the “American occupier” out, while he warned that he would not allow Iraq to turn the square of settling accounts.

Sadr said, via tweet on the Twitter platform: “We previously warned against the consequences of plunging Iraq into regional and international conflicts, and we said that Iraq and its people no longer tolerate such reckless behavior.”

He added, “If we had cooperated previously to remove the occupier through military resistance, he would not have perched on the chest of Iraq. And if we had cooperated in order not to endorse the humiliating agreement, what happened would not have happened.”

And he added: “Today I am ready to take him out by political and legal means, so does Nasser support us? So come to uniting the ranks to get him out as quickly as possible.”
