Legal expert: There is no constitutional objection to appointing a resigning minister as prime minister

Baghdad / Obelisk: Legal expert Tareq Harb said, on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, that the appointment of a resigned minister by virtue of the resignation of his prime minister is legal and constitutional to form a new government.

The legal expert said in an exclusive interview with the obelisk, that “there is no legal or constitutional impediment preventing the appointment of a resigned minister by virtue of the resignation of his prime minister to form a new government.”

He added, “There is no legal or constitutional impediment that prevents the minister from being assigned, even if he is not resigning and exercising his duties, there is no such constitutional or legal prohibition.”

The Construction Alliance had held a meeting in the presence of the leaders of Al-Fateh and the rule of law, and Minister of Higher Education Qusay Al-Suhail, to present the latter to the President of the Republic as a candidate for construction for the post of Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
