Kurdistan and Britain discuss the situation in the region and negotiations to resolve “outstanding problems”

President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, confirmed the support of the political leadership of the Kurdistan Region and the Kurdish blocs in the Iraqi Council of Representatives for the program of the government of Iraqi Prime Minister, Adel Abdul Mahdi, for the purpose of reaching a solution to the problems.

At a meeting between Nechirvan Barzani and John Wilkes, Britain’s ambassador to Iraq, the two sides discussed “the current situation in Iraq, the latest developments in the relations between Erbil and Baghdad, and negotiations aimed at resolving the outstanding problems,” according to a statement by the Presidency of the Kurdistan region.

The statement said that “at the meeting held in Erbil on Tuesday evening, during the visit of Wilkes to President Nechirvan Barzani farewell on the occasion of the end of his official duties in Iraq, where the President of the Kurdistan Region highly valued the work and activities of Wilkes during the past period, hoping him success in his new duties.”

In another aspect of the meeting, they discussed “the current situation in the region and the latest developments in Syria in particular.”
