The Iraqi and Chinese governments signed in Beijing on Monday, eight agreements and memorandums of understanding in the presence and supervision of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi and Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, at the end of the expanded round of talks between the Iraqi and Chinese official delegations held in Beijing headed by Abdul Mahdi Premier of the People’s Republic of China.
He thanked the Chinese government and people for their warm reception and their supportive stances on Iraq in confronting terrorism and developing the economy and supporting the government’s orientation in construction and reconstruction. He added that we have entered a new phase of providing services, reconstruction, fighting corruption and bureaucracy after the victory over ISIS and the huge sacrifices that were made. The Iraqi people who suffered the scourge of war and dictatorship and deprived them of the dignity of life in a double siege externally and internally, passing through terrorism and destruction that accompanied it, and we look forward to turning cooperation into investment opportunities that reap the benefits of our people. Abdul Mahdi invited his Chinese counterpart to visit Baghdad and add and complete the rest of the memorandums of understanding, which were accepted and agreed upon through diplomatic channels.
During the joint talks, the Chinese premier said that “Iraq has clear contributions to human civilization and will make contributions to security, peace and development in the world. The two countries’ relations are deep and go back more than 60 years. We will continue this cooperation with you in all fields. ”
He added that “our cooperation will bear fruit and positive results, welcoming the large Iraqi delegation,” praising the role “played by Iraq in the region and keep the specter of war and emphasize the importance of adopting the language of dialogue and peaceful solutions.”
Based on “the premier’s proposal, the Chinese premier welcomed the establishment of a joint committee to push forward cooperation and achieve practical results of the agreements signed to enter into force and achieve its objectives.”
The agreements and memorandums of understanding covered financial, commercial, security, reconstruction, communications, culture, education and foreign affairs.
In the forefront of the agreements and memorandums of understanding signed, the agreement on the implementation of the mechanisms of the framework agreement between the Ministry of Finance and the Chinese Agency for Credit Guarantee (Sine Shore), and the agreement of economic and technical cooperation.
A memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Ministry of Finance and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce on cooperation for post-war reconstruction in Iraq.
A memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Communications and the China Aeronautical Satellite Office.
And a security memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi Ministry of Interior and Public Security in China.
And a memorandum of understanding between the Iraqi and Chinese foreign ministries on the land allocated to the diplomatic missions.
And a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Higher Education and Information Office of the State Council to establish a Chinese library at the University of Baghdad.
Memorandum of Understanding on the Executive Program for Cultural Cooperation.
The Prime Minister and his delegation concluded his official visit to the People’s Republic of China back to Baghdad.
