ERBIL – Iraqi powerful Shi’ite cleric and leader of Saeroon Alliance, Muqtada al-Sadr, said on Monday that he is sure Israel is not behind the recent drone attacks on pro-Iranian Hashd al-Shaabi’s weapon caches in Iraq.
He wrote on Twitter that he is not attempting to support Tel Aviv, but that he does not believe that the Jewish state would make a such move.
He, however, warned that if Israel has carried out the airstrikes, the state should realize that a response for these attacks would be like “an earthquake” for the security of Israel.
Sadr said that Tel Aviv does not conduct such air raids in Iraq as it knows “such games are big for it to play.”
The Shi’ite leader also called on the Iraqi government to launch investigations into the incidents “as soon as possible,” adding that the process “could be supervised by international sides.”
