The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) announced on Monday the date of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi’s visit to the region and the files to be discussed.

The head of the bloc, Vian Sabri, said in an interview with (Baghdad today), “The Prime Minister will visit the Kurdistan region this week, in order to congratulate the President of the region, Nechirvan Barzani, and Prime Minister-designate Massur Barzani.”

Sabri explained that “the visit will not be postponed this time, and will examine outstanding files between Baghdad and the territorial government, including Article 140 and the issue of oil and gas, in addition to the budget, and the issue of continuing to pay salaries to employees.”

A source in the Kurdistan Democratic Party, has revealed on Friday (June 14, 2019), why not attend the Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi to Erbil to congratulate the new leadership in the region.

The source said, in an interview with (Baghdad today), “The Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, was scheduled to arrive Thursday to Erbil to congratulate the new leadership in the Kurdistan region, but the visit was postponed.”

He added that “Abdul-Mahdi decided to postpone the visit because he wants to achieve goals and goals during which, including resolving the budget and oil, and not only a visit to the protocol only.”

A source in the Kurdistan Regional Government, has revealed earlier on Friday (June 14, 2019), the intention of the new Prime Minister, pleased Barzani, ending the oil file with the federal government.

The source said in an interview with (Baghdad today), that “pleased Barzani wants to end this suspended file, which is repeated annually, and renewed with him the issue of salaries of employees, Peshmerga, and the date of delivery, and cut off from the federal government.”

He added that Barzani will hold an agreement with Baghdad to hand over 250 barrels of oil per day, provided that the federal government pledges to send the budget permanently and do not repeat discussions and negotiations every year.

The Kurdistan parliament voted Tuesday (June 11, 2019) to name Barzani, the head of the Kurdistan Regional Government, a candidate for the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).

On June 10, 2019, Nechirvan Barzani was sworn in as president of the Kurdistan region, in the presence of 1,200 prominent local and international figures.

Relations between Erbil and Baghdad have improved since Abdul-Mahdi took office in October 2018 after an unprecedented tension reached the point of armed confrontation following the independence referendum and the restoration of control by the Iraqi forces over the disputed areas.
