BAGHDAD (Reuters) –
Oil Minister Thamer al-Ghadhban announced Wednesday that he was close to signing an agreement with Exxon Mobil and PetroChina.
Ghadban said he expected his ministry to sign a “preliminary agreement with ExxonMobil and PetroChina” very soon, “but did not give a specific date.”
“We were able to take a step towards resolving some outstanding issues in the deal.”
Once the talks are concluded, the preliminary agreement will be examined by a ministerial energy committee before being submitted to the Council of Ministers for approval.
