BAGHDAD (AFP) – President of the House of Representatives Mohamed Halboussi discussed Monday with US Special Envoy to the International Coalition Against Terrorism James Jeffrey and his accompanying delegation the developments of the political and security situation in Iraq and the region.
“The two sides discussed the coordination of bilateral efforts on the issue of fighting the da’ash in the border areas with Syria, stressing the need to complete the war against da’wah, eliminate terrorism permanently and provide training and technical support to the security forces,” a statement from the office of the speaker of the House of Representatives.
The meeting also discussed “the support of the United States of America for the efforts of stability through the return of displaced people and reconstruction of the liberated area, as well as the support of the Iraqi government; to implement its government program, which enables it to provide services and eliminate corruption.”
Al-Hilbousi praised the efforts of the United States to fight and encourage the reconstruction of the liberated areas and support Iraq in all areas
, Jeffrey reiterated his country’s support for Iraq in the fight against terrorism, reconstruction and stability that will contribute to the stability of the region.
