Washington responds to Arbil’s request to mediate with Baghdad

(Baghdad: Al-Furat News) The US State Department confirmed Thursday, its support for dialogue between the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government.
“The United States supports the dialogue between the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) and the central government, and continued progress in both security and economic reforms,” ​​the ministry said in a statement. 
He noted, “Washington’s strategic importance with Iraq and its long friendship with the Kurdistan Regional Government.” 
The Prime Minister of the Kurdistan region, Nechirvan Barzani, said during a meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who visited Arbil after his visit to Baghdad on Wednesday, that “the Kurdistan region supports the government cab of Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi, and that involved in this and work to make the work of this cab” . 
He pointed out that “there are positive talks between Erbil and Baghdad, although the solution of some problems need more time, but the ground is ready to start serious talks and felt that the friendly countries, especially the United States, should provide assistance in this area.”
