BAGHDAD – Activists through social networking sites on Wednesday carried pictures of the wife of the new president of Iraq, Barham Salih, after winning the largest number of votes in the elections on October 2.
Barham married Dr Sarbag Salih, president of the Association for Plant Diversity of the Region and an activist in the defense of women’s rights, and gave birth to two sons, a male and a female.
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi parliament chose, last Tuesday, the candidate of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan Barham Saleh, President of Iraq, after a second round, the vote of secret deputies to choose a president.
Saleh received 175 votes, 19 votes for his rival Fouad Hussein, and false cards reached 19, and five cards were empty.
He was sworn in immediately after his election as president of Iraq, pledging in his first speech to preserve the unity of the country
