“The working body represented within the Political Bureau is responsible for selecting and nominating the candidate, who has not put any names up until now,” said Governor Qader Hama Jan, a member of the party’s political bureau, at a news conference on the sidelines of his visit to the KDP branch.
He added that “the nomination of any member of the Union for the post of President of the Republic back to the governing body of the Union and is empowered to take the decision and not other partisan entities.”
“The party leadership received a letter from the Central Council proposing the nomination of [Muhammad Sabir Ismail] for the post, but a decision in this regard has not been taken yet,” Hama Jan said.
He denied that “the working body has decided it.”
The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) published a decision on Friday to nominate Mohamed Saber Ismail, a member of the party’s central council, for the post of president of the republic.
