Araji and US envoy discuss Iraq’s role in fighting terrorism in the region


Baghdad / Al-Ghad Press:
Interior Minister Qassim al-Araji on Wednesday discussed with US President George W. Bush the role of Iraq in combating terrorism in the region.

A statement issued by the minister’s office said that “Araji received today at his office the envoy of US President, Brett McGurk, during which he discussed a number of security issues of mutual interest.”

“We discussed means of activating them to achieve global peace, fight terrorism and Iraq’s great role in the region in combating extremism and terrorism by coordinating joint efforts,” he said.

For his part, the envoy of the American president, “his country’s support for Iraq’s efforts at various levels.”
