A US military delegation and a US diplomat said during a meeting with Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) President Nechirvan Barzani on Wednesday that coordination and cooperation between the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army should be supported by US support to eliminate the dangers of terrorism.
In a statement to the head of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Barzani received the official of the US Security Coordination Office in Iraq, Maj. Gen. Sean Jenkins, the US Consul General in the region, Steve Vakn and the accompanying delegation.
The statement pointed out that the American delegation thanked the Kurdistan Regional Government, especially the Peshmerga Ministry, for the assistance provided to them and the recent operation of the Peshmerga to eliminate the dangers of terrorism, noting that he saw the need for coordination and cooperation between the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army. Expressed readiness to continue to provide assistance on reform in the Ministry of Peshmerga.
The statement noted that Barzani thanked the military assistance to the coalition and America, and wished to continue, especially in the areas of reform and reorganization of the Ministry of Peshmerga, which will be a reason for the Peshmerga forces to be more effective.
Barzani stressed that cooperation and coordination between the Peshmerga and the Iraqi army with the support of the coalition will prevent the return of any kind of risk of violence in the region.
The statement pointed out that the discussion of the situation in the region and a number of other topics related to the political and security situation in Iraq were other topics in the meeting.
