UNHCR: Start counting and manual counting next Tuesday in the presence of UN observers

The Electoral Commission announced on Saturday that counting and counting will start next Tuesday in a number of provinces. The counting process will be conducted in the presence of UN observers, representatives of embassies of foreign countries, political party agents and international and local observers.

According to the official spokesman of the Electoral Commission for elections, Judge Laith Jabr Hamza in a statement, that based on the meetings held by the Independent Electoral Commission (judges assigned) for the period from 28 to 30/6/2018, which agreed on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, which considered the matters necessary for practical procedures Hand counting and sorting According to the Third Amendment Law of the Iraqi Elections Law No. 45 of 2013 and the decision of the Federal Supreme Court No. 99, 104 and 106 / Federal / Media / 2018 on 21/6/2018 and after reviewing complaints, appeals and related official reports, :

1- Determine the electoral centers and stations where the manual counting and counting will be conducted for all governorates, based on complaints, appeals and related official reports

2- The process of manual counting and counting begins on Tuesday 3/7/2018 and is conducted in the presence of members of the Independent High Electoral Commission and within the electoral office of Kirkuk, Sulaymaniyah, Arbil, Dohuk, Nineveh, Salaheddine and Anbar governorates respectively, starting from Kirkuk governorate on the aforementioned date. For the rest of the provinces are followed by the dates determined by the Commission. As for the funds that have been transferred to Baghdad, they will be counted and sorted out in Baghdad.

3 – Complete manual counting and counting of foreign election offices of Iran, Turkey, Britain, Lebanon, Jordan, the United States and Germany and take the necessary measures by the Commission and related parties to transfer the ballot boxes. To Baghdad, and in the event that this is not possible for any reason, the Commission has taken the appropriate decision in this regard.

The statement said that the counting and sorting process will take place in the presence of UN observers, representatives of embassies of foreign countries, agents of political parties, international observers, local and media personnel. The Ministries of Defense and Interior will ensure full manual counting and sorting.
