The Ministry of Communications in the federal government in Baghdad on Friday agreed with the Kurdistan Regional Government to erect international access gates to the source of electronic attacks at the Ibrahim al-Khalil border crossing with Turkey.
The ministry said in a statement today that a delegation visited the headquarters of the Ministry of Transport and Communications in Kurdistan Region, and the two sides held an “extensive” meeting to discuss finding effective solutions to the outstanding issues and stressing the need to develop bilateral relations. The statement said that the delegation toured the site to inspect the site of the gates, which will be repulsed by electronic attacks and ensure that the fiber optic network of the Ministry of Communications and the elimination of the operations of illegal capacity through this important port linking Iraq to Europe.
The statement said that these gates allow the provisions of full control over all capacities received from Turkey to the communications networks in Baghdad, and therefore will be implemented under the control of cadres of the Ministry of Communications Federal, noting that this is an important achievement happening for the first time.
The statement added that this step has become the Ministry of Central Communications from the ministries of the early implementation of an agreement with the Kurdistan region in terms of the development of international access gates to the Internet outlet Ibrahim al-Khalil border.
For their part, officials of the Ministry of Transport and Communications in the region expressed their full readiness to achieve constructive and joint cooperation in all areas for the benefit of the public.
