The United States of America on Tuesday stressed the continued assistance to the Kurdistan region as an important partner to prevent the recurrence of extremism and terrorism in the region.
This came during the reception of the President of the Kurdistan Regional Government, Nechirvan Barzani, a delegation of US military and senior diplomat.
A statement to the presidency of the provincial government responded to the news that Barzani received today, the commander of US forces in Iraq and Syria, Lieutenant General Paul Vuk, Deputy Iraqi Ambassador to Iraq and the US Consul General in the Kurdistan region and a military delegation accompanied them.
The statement pointed out that the guest delegation highly valued the cooperation between the coalition forces and the provincial government and the ministries of Peshmerga and Interior Affairs, stressing the continuation of assistance to the Kurdistan Region as an important partner in order to prevent the return of extremism and terrorism again.
The statement added that the delegation praised the government of the region, which was able through dialogue to resolve part of the outstanding problems between Arbil and Baghdad, hoping the continuation of dialogues between the two sides and expand.
He added that the delegation highlighted the work and duties entrusted to them with the Ministry of Peshmerga Affairs and the development of works that have been completed so far and are still ongoing.
The statement pointed out that Barzani, for his part, thanked the role played by the coalition forces, especially the United States to cooperate with the Kurdistan Region in the war against terrorists, and stressed that his belief in the need for continued cooperation, stressing the importance of coordination between the Peshmerga and Iraqi forces.
Barzani thanked US support for setting the stage for the start of the dialogue between Erbil and Baghdad, hoping that the dialogue would expand and become more serious.
