The Nineveh Provincial Council on Monday charged the ministries of health and finance with responsibility for not paying the salaries of 10,000 employees in the governorate health department.
Council member Hossam al-Abbar said that “10 thousand employees in the health department of Nineveh have not received their salaries for a year and four months after the completion of security procedures for them,” pointing out that “the responsibility of non-payment of salaries of health officials borne by the Ministries of Health and Finance.”
He added that “thousands of employees demonstrated in front of the building of the province since yesterday to pay their salaries after a cut for a year and four months.”
A local source reported Monday that Nineveh health officials carried out an open sit-in for the second day in a row because they had not received their salaries for about a year and four months.
