[Asharq Al-Awsat] Iraqi President Fuad Masoum filed a lawsuit against parliament speaker Salim al-Jubouri over the passing of the federal budget for containing a number of irregularities.
The president was infallible, allowed the publication of the budget law in the factsheet, “in favor of the public and protect the rights of citizens.”
The House of Representatives voted in its meeting on 3/3/2018, on the controversial federal budget law, but President Fuad Masum refused to ratify the law, “to contain more than 30 violations,” according to a presidential statement.
The head of parliament rejected the president’s appeal against the draft budget budget, saying that “Anyone who has an objection to the budget law can appeal to the Federal Court after the publication of the law in the Official Gazette.”
It was supposed to pass the Iraqi budget before the beginning of 2018, but several key points of disagreement between the central government on the one hand and Sunni Arabs, and Arab Shiites and Kurds on the other prevented the draft budget on time.
And ratified the Iraqi parliament on a budget worth 88.5 billion dollars for the year 2018, despite boycotting Kurdish parliamentarians to vote in protest against the reduction of financial allocations for the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
