NATO Secretary-General Jens Stonelberg arrived in Baghdad on Monday for a visit which included a meeting with President Fuad Masum, Prime Minister Haider Abadi and Foreign Minister Ibrahim Jaafari.

“The Secretary-General’s one-day visit to NATO is diplomatically important and coincides with the transition of Iraq from war to victory over gangs,” the head of the parliamentary foreign relations committee, Abdul Bari Zebari, told Sabah newspaper.

Zebari pointed out that “the Iraqi forces have had great experience over the past years and whatever evolved, the European armies need the experience of the Iraqi army in the rules of engagement and the way to collide with the terrorist groups fierce.”

Iraq's new budget determines the number of cars each official has

The new budget in Iraq has identified the number of vehicles used by officials, including the three presidencies, arguing that this has put pressure on expenditures.

The newspaper “Al- Hayat ” London, in a report, “The budget has identified 5 cars for each of the heads of the three governing bodies, and pressure of expenditures,” noting that “Article 26 of the budget includes the pressure of expenditure and reduce the amounts allocated for fuel and maintenance of used cars.”

The article also specified 4 cars for each of the two Vice-Presidents of the House of Representatives, three cars for the Minister or his rank, and two cars for each Undersecretary of the Ministry.

“The Iraqi budget does not allow the use of the car that is in the hands of the employee with the officials or their services, and the cars that are more than the specified number are returned and sold according to the law of selling and renting state funds.”

The House voted on March 3, 2018, to abolish deductions from state employees’ salaries in the draft new financial budget bill.

(Baghdad: al-Furat News) The representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq, Jan Kubic when meeting with Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari that the next phase will witness the visit of a number of international officials in support of Iraq in many areas.
“Al-Jaafari reviewed in his Baghdad office on Sunday evening, with Kubic, the overall security developments, the political developments in the Iraqi arena, the international support provided to Iraq, and preparations for the upcoming election season,” the statement said.
“Iraq is determined to establish security, stability and dialogue, political and diplomatic coordination among the countries of the region,” Jaafari said during the meeting. “The victories achieved by Iraq were the efforts of its people and the support of the United Nations, international organizations and friendly countries.”

{Baghdad: Al-Furat News} Rafidain Bank announced the direct retirement of the salaries of military retirees for the March meal through its branches in Baghdad and the provinces.
