Abadi’s office comments on parliament’s request for foreign troops

Saad al-Hadithi, a spokesman for Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi’s media office, said the House of Representatives had the right to request the departure of foreign forces from Iraq, especially after defeating the terrorist organization Da’ash.

Al-Hadithi told CNN that the Iraqi government still needs assistance from foreign forces in training and other logistical matters, especially with regard to Syria, where terrorists still pose a threat to Iraq. However, the number of foreign forces can be changed with Move towards greater stability.

The Iraqi parliament voted on a resolution to “thank and appreciate all the countries that have stood up with Iraq to fight against the organization of calling the terrorist and calling on the government to set a timetable for the departure of foreign troops after the announcement of the final victory over terrorist groups.”
