Khandan –

Iraq’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Rushdie al-Ani, announced the approval of the reopening of the Saudi consulate in Basra.

“The consulate in Basra is a reopening, not an opening, because it was originally open and closed in 1990,” al-Ani told Al-Hayat newspaper. “We received a request from Saudi Arabia to reopen the consulate in Basra and to open a consulate in Najaf.” .

He pointed out that the consulates will open soon, “and will open the border Saudi Arabia – Iraq, after the completion of maintenance work from the Iraqi side.”

For its part, a source familiar with Saudi Arabian Airlines said that the first week of February will see “historical operation” of flights between Saudi Arabia and Iraq, eight flights a day through Saudi Airlines.
