A member of the Kurdistan Parliament said on Wednesday that the Iraqi Ministry of Commerce said about the benefits of the farmers of Kurdistan from the quantities of wheat crop, which they handed over to the Iraqi government, “Wait for good news.”
A member of the Committee on Agriculture in the Parliament of Kurdistan Khalaf Ahmed in press statements that the money of wheat peasants of the region has been transferred to the account of the Iraqi Ministry of Commerce, but the political problems between Arbil and Baghdad, an obstacle to the disbursement of funds by Baghdad.
He added that his committee met to discuss the problem of non-sending money farmers wheat, and decided during the meeting visit the US consulate in the region and the representative of the United Nations in Erbil.
He stressed that the Iraqi Ministry of Commerce told them to wait for “good news” in the next few days on the disbursement of wheat money farmers of the region.
Ahmed talked about the disbursement of 829 billion dinars to all the farmers of Iraq, including only 70 billion dinars for the peasants of the region, and thus did not receive a part of the farmers financial dues for the years 2014 and 2015 and are waiting for the decision of the Ministry of Finance for their dues for the years 2016 and 2017, pointing out that the amount was transferred to the account Ministry of Commerce.
The Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abbadi had announced during a press conference held on Tuesday the disbursement of wheat crop money to farmers, including peasants of the Kurdistan region in the provinces of Sulaymaniyah, Arbil and Dahuk.
