The head of the counter-terrorism forces, Major General Abdul Ghani al-Asadi, said on Thursday that the forces of the body and all other security units are ready to start operations in western Anbar or the so-called “Upper Euphrates”.

Al-Asadi said in a statement to the news agency Buna News that “the forces, having achieved all their objectives in the process of legal enforcement carried out in the province of Kirkuk, is preparing to begin the operations of the liberation of Rawa and the western desert and the province of Anbar, the last stronghold in Iraq.”
