Abadi: We are not ready to discuss the results of the referendum of the Kurdistan Region

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Monday that he did not recognize or deal with the results of the referendum on the independence of the Kurdistan Region, noting that “we are not ready to discuss the results of the referendum or deal with it.”

Abadi said in a speech during his visit to the headquarters of joint operations, that “our forces are fighting on the ground and did not occupy anything secondary, such as the referendum and others,” noting that “some and with these sacrifices want to infuse the region with fat.”

Abadi added that “the Federal Court decided not to hold the referendum for unconstitutionality,” noting: “We are not ready to discuss the results of the referendum or deal with him.”

He explained that “we will not resort to the imposition of the status quo by force and we will rely on the Constitution,” noting that “the Federal Court is to resolve the dispute and not others.”

He pointed out that “we will not accept the results of the referendum, we and no other party will not have any results,” stressing that “we will step up our actions to hold those who have this chaos and discord responsibility, not the Kurdish citizens.”

Abadi pointed out that “the disputed areas must return to the federal authority,” pointing out that “there are displacements and threats to citizens by force and manipulation of the referendum.”

The voting process began on the independence referendum of the Kurdistan Region, on Monday 25/9/2017, where the ballot boxes opened at 8:00 am Erbil time, while the people went to the cities of Kurdistan to cast their votes amid the songs and joys.

And saw the polling stations in the whole of Kurdistan, a large turnout of the people, which was flooded with feelings of pride and enthusiasm and optimism.
