Confirmed information leaked that the Kurdistan Democratic Party led by Massoud Barzani, prepared a plan to postpone the referendum and the presidential and parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan region.

According to information, the Kurdistan Democratic Party presented a plan to the political bureau of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan to postpone the referendum on independence in return for the acceptance of political blocs to postpone the presidential and parliamentary elections in the Kurdistan region. Kurdish Islamist group refuses to hold referendum


The Kurdistan Islamic Group (KIA) on Wednesday rejected a referendum on the secession of the province scheduled for the 25th of this month, while it said that its actions would lead to many problems in the region.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said on Wednesday that the referendum on the secession of the province is “deception of the people and unconstitutional.”

Patriotic Union of Kurdistan party, led by former President Jalal Talbani, moans under internal conflicts over the Kurdistan referendum set to be held September 25th, the Baghdad Post reported Wednesday.


Informed sources said 32 figures within the party oppose the date of teh refrendum.


Sherine Reza, an MP from the Change Movement (Gorran), confirmed the pajrty suffers a strong wave of dissent.


She said in a statement to the Baghdad Post that a number of the party’s politicians seek to joint Gorran movement.


The Kurdistan region independence referendum to secede from Iraq will be held on Sept. 25.


Regional powers including Iran and Turkey oppose the move.

Informed sources in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, led by former President Jalal Talabani, the existence of dissent and problems within the Union, because of the different position on the referendum of the region.

The sources said that “32 personalities in the Union opposed the date of the referendum, and other personalities with the referendum, while some of the characters remained silent on the subject.”

For her part, MP for the Movement for Change, Sherine Reza confirmed the existence of a split within the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan.

“Some union figures are trying to join the movement of change and the other is sticking to the union, while some figures from within the union are distancing themselves from the point of view,” she said.

Japan offers Iraq $ 500 million loan

The Cabinet discussed the issues on the agenda and issued the following resolutions:

The Council of Ministers approved the regulatory and national quality policy in Iraq with regard to the safety of locally produced goods and services imported according to international standards.

The Council also voted on the project for the care of victims of human trafficking.

The Cabinet approved the tasks and mechanism of the Higher Committee for Investment and Reconstruction.

In order to facilitate the return and stability of displaced persons, particularly in Nineveh province, the Council approved the recommendations of the 4th session of the Civil Crisis Management Cell.

With regard to the development of the marshes, the Cabinet approved a legal amendment on the project to establish 130 schools in the marshes.

The Council of Ministers voted to approve the establishment of a civil college (Al-Manara College of Medical Sciences) in Maysan Governorate.

The Council also approved the amendment of the paragraph concerning the decision of the Council of Ministers to form a committee to monitor the implementation of projects funded by the British loan.

The council also discussed organizing the return of Iraqi pilgrims.


Abadi security : We will coordinate with the Peshmerga in the battle of Hawija
