The International Alliance leader, General Stephen Townsend, said about 1,200 people were killed by an international bombing during the Tal Afar operations.
Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi announced the liberation of the entire district of Tal Afar and the province of Nineveh from the grip of the organization.
Townsend said more than 100,000 square kilometers of land had been freed from a sympathetic grip by allied forces on the ground.
“About one million people and 25 percent of the land is under duplicitous control and the priority is to end this danger and defeat the organization,” he said.
He said the international coalition had killed about 1,200 people in Tal Afar.
“The Syrian regime made a deal with a da’ash and we hit a convoy of gunmen trying to get close to the Qalamoun convoy,” the commander of the international coalition said.
