The President of the Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani, the parties rejecting the referendum on independence scheduled for September 25 next, to determine the “appropriate time” to make or provide alternative, pointing out that the decision of the referendum taken by the people.
This came during a meeting between the President of Kurdistan Region Massoud Barzani in Arbil with the President of the Federation of Kurdish associations Kia Isol.
According to a statement for the presidency of the region, Isol confirmed that the Kurdish community from the four parts of Kurdistan supports the referendum process.
He spoke about the program prepared by the Kurdistan Association of Associations in Sweden, which was decided to implement in this period, especially in the Swedish Parliament on the referendum process in the Kurdistan Region, in addition to mass gatherings and bringing international observers to Kurdistan to participate in overseeing the referendum process.
For his part, Barzani said that the decision of the Kurdistan referendum is the decision of the people of Kurdistan has come this fateful decision as a natural result of the failure of partnership and consensus in Iraq.
He highlighted the meeting of Kurdish political parties and parties which took place on 7 June 2017, in which it was agreed to take the decision to hold the referendum on 25 September 2017, and described the referendum day as the historic day of the people of Kurdistan.
